In the MCC version of ODST, you have to level up your Season 3 season pass (access is free). In the vanilla game, you had to get certain achievements to unlock all the options. This system allows players to change which of the ODSTs from the campaign they play as during Firefight, and they can also change their armor appearance.

Lastly, the developers have done a great job bringing Halo 3: ODST's customization system into the MCC on both PC and Xbox One. It's not always easy to round up friends to play with, so having the ability to matchmake with other players for Firefight is amazing. Nobody was expecting 343 Industries to add matchmaking to ODST's Firefight, so the fact that they did is stellar. These features have also been brought to the Xbox One version of the MCC, so Xbox fans aren't missing out. In Custom Firefight, players can wield the Battle Rifle and Hornet vehicle, which were previously not featured in ODST. If you want, you and your friends can also play Custom Firefight as well, which allows you to tweak gameplay settings to your liking. You can play with up to three other players in traditional Heroic Firefight or Arcade Firefight, where players are given an abundance of power weapons. That alone is awesome, but 343 Industries took things a step further by adding matchmaking for ODST's Firefight, which previously was only a luxury that Halo: Reach's Firefight had (even the original ODST lacked this feature). Halo 3 is available now for Xbox 360 and through The Master Chief Collection, Xbox One.Like the campaign, Halo 3: ODST's co-op horde mode, Firefight, looks, sounds, and plays phenomenally on PC. But before fans get too excited about AMD's use of Halo 3 artwork, they should keep in mind that it could mean nothing at all.

Regardless of how Halo 3 will be making its way to PC, with Microsoft's recent push for PC gaming, it seems like an inevitability that the whole franchise will come to the platform at some point. Considering the game's ongoing issues, perhaps Microsoft decided it wouldn't be worth the headache trying to bring The Master Chief Collection to PC. Well, as Xbox One fans know, The Master Chief Collection has had a litany of technical problems since it launched three years ago, and still has issues that persist to this day. If Microsoft is planning to release a remastered version of Halo 3, some may be wondering why it doesn't just bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC instead. Furthermore, it would also allow Microsoft to ship Project Scorpio with a "new" Halo game right out of the gate. After all, Halo 3's 10 year anniversary is this year, and it could be a good way to fill the gap between Halo 5 and 6.

Still, it's hard to deny that the timing seems perfect for Microsoft to launch such a game if it ever plans to do so. Halo 3 Anniversary is an unconfirmed rumor at this point in time, and any information about it should be taken with a massive grain of salt. If this rumored project comes to pass, then Halo 3 Anniversary would presumably come to Xbox One as well as PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Since this year marks the 10 year anniversary of the launch of Halo 3, there have been rumors that Microsoft is going to announce Halo 3 Anniversary at E3 2017 in June for release this holiday season, in lieu of Halo 6. Of course, it's possible that AMD simply chose artwork of Master Chief to point out that there are some Halo games already on the platform, not necessarily Halo 3.Īnother explanation is that Halo 3 is coming to PC with remastered graphics and cut-scenes as Halo 3 Anniversary. During the event, AMD played a highlight reel of various games that could be powered by the R5 CPUs, which included Halo 3 artwork featuring Master Chief.ĪMD didn't make any official announcement regarding Halo 3 coming to PC, but it's odd that it would use artwork from the game if that wasn't the case. Is Halo 3 finally coming to PC? That's the question on the minds of Halo fans after a recent AMD event in South Korea, where the company launched its powerful R5 CPUs.
